Week 2: Hermana Lapp Survives Another Week at the Mexico City CCM!

This week went by faster than last week! We committed our 1st inv. to baptism and now we have 2 invest. on talks super fast and i cant understand a word hes saying. our outher invest. talks pretty slow, i can catch most things. So far ive memorized the missionary purpose, the baptismal invitation. pary of santiago 1:5 and part of mosiah 10:4-5 in spanish. As soon as I get those down i will start on the 1st vision. I also dont have to write down every sentence of my lesson and thats pretty good. I can pray in spanish and bear testimony in spanish. I really wont be very good when i get out in the field, but im praying for a latina trainer. itll be hard, ,but easier to learn the language. Sundays are pretty good, we get to watch a devotional by someone cool and we get to watch a church movie. We watch joseph smith: the profet of the restauracion yesterday and theres a part where joseph smith and emmas sillouettes kiss and all of the missionaries covered their comps eyes in the auditorium....it was hilarious. Other than that, everhting is normal. Clasas all day and then more class. mexico is crazy and they party all night long here so we listen to fireworks, music, and a little old man on the mountain who has a taco truck with a recording that yells "TACOS" while we're trying to sleep. Its cool, though, although we never leave our school. We get to take a field trip to the temple sometime here soon, but its still under construction unil september, so we4 dont get to go inside. But we do get to buy some fun souveneirs. Theres these things call bueno bars at the store in the ccm and im super depressed because they are not allowed to sell the in the us. When I have a bad day, we go to la tienda and eat a bueno bar. And we try to trick our teachers into buying us bueno bars. and we try to get our teachers to bet us we wont do something for a bueno bar. then we do it and one time the other hermanas in the district got a bueno bar from our maestro. it was awesome. we have 4 teachers and their all awesome and great at teachign spanish. I had a freak out overwhelmed day and our only female maestra helped me calm down....the same thing happened to one of the other hermanas in our district. I think we are all going to miss hermana vergara. well, if we come back later i might tell you more.

ok what else can i tell you about...........
today we got locked out of our house because our electronic keys stopped working and we went on a wild goose chase trying to figure out how to fix them. Theres only 150 people here and this place can hold 1000 something. Im just in class all day long......i actually work out everyday....SURPRISE. I ride what i call death bikes (the bikes for spinning classes) and then i do recumbent bikes and elipticala.....I dont know what im going to do when i no longer have a gym to go to. One of the hermanas get packages and shes the only one! And shes like a liittle bird and doesnt eat it! its cool though, the first package had weird mexican candy and mexican chips, byt i think shell eat the one she got today. It had bread and stuff,

Im hoping today we get a nap. We dont really do much on pday, just laundry and email and naptime....thats basically it.

Anyway being a missionary is awesome. We have lots of spiritual experiences everyday and learn so much, but i cant wait to be in the real mission field. Its going to be awesome even though i have to speak spanish. I dont really have much else to write about.........

haha love,
hermana lapp

Mexico City Week 1

oh my goodness i am so tired! and my head hurts so much from the spanish. i have been doing pretty well, i guess. i still dont understand hardly anything.... my district (class) is only 6 missionaries, which is the smallest district the ccm (mtc) has ever had..... mi compaƱera es hermana green. Hermana Green has an amazing testimony and we sing together well...she{s a music major, which is awesome. and we basically stick withh the other misioneras in our room. the elders in our district (one companionship) are 20 and 21 so they are super focused and so we get a lot of stuff done. Sometimes i wonder if i can do this, or if im doing the right thing, but then i just pray. I dont think i can count the number of times a day that we pray, its crazy.

the classes are so boring and so long. girls dress shoes are the worst, im going to have some sick calluses on my ankles.
ummm the first lesson that we teach on the 2nd day there is ridiculous. We basically just read off papers and books, which i felt bad about, but hey thats ok. our investigador is super cool. His name is abel and he accepted our baptismal invitation at the 2nd lesson....so now we are basically teaching him to prepare him for baptism.that was the lesson where he asked us a question and i definitely had the gift of tongues because i have no idea how i thought of those words. so thats cool. but the 1st investigador is probs easy for everyone. The food here is weird.......i dont eat a ton, which is good because all the hermanas who showed us around told us that we were going to gain a ton of weight.....i have no idea how they know that though because i havent seen any scales around.

 the hermano is hilarious and the hermana is seriously like an angel, she{s so nice and soft spoken and a good teacher.

pdays are the best. we are all so tired and we have spoken and learned so much spanish..........

sundays are super spiritual. we all cried except elder parsons during our district meeting when we were discussing and sharing the ways we learn from the spirit and teach by the spirit. We have a devotional every sunday....Elder Holland was the video we watched and of course he was so powerful and just all around awesome.

anyway love you}

Hermana Lapp arrives in Mexico City

Hello everyone! This is Scarlett's mom. I apologize that I haven't  posted anything on the blog until today. Here is her first email to me on the evening she arrives in Mexico City. I did get a phone Call from her at the  SLC airport. It was Short and Sweet because She was borrowing a cell phone from Someone at the airport.   This has been a goal of  hers for more than 2 years! I know she is so  happy the time is finally here! I am So proud of her!

hey! I made it safely to mexico. we rode a bus through mexico city and it was crazy!!! Everything is so close together and all the lanes were close together, if we reached our hand out the window we could definitely touch the side of the other cars. I think its also pretty polluted so i had an instant headacheanyway, my flights went well, nothing was delayed. i´am tired and hungry, but im so excited!
