Todo esta bien aqui en Ramona! Hay lluvia hoy y básicamente es lo
mejor día de mi vida. Hace mucho color la semana pasada.
A Miracle to me is a tender mercy that God gives you when you've done
all you can, when you've done your part. Because that's showing your
faith (or acting on it) and miracles happen according to your faith.
I've been trying to see the miracles every day, because I feel I'm
doing all I can, I'm doing my part (of course I could always do more
and improve). It's hard sometimes, but ive been trying to remember all
the miracles that happened this week. A couple of them are:
we found a woman who now has read the introduction to the Book of
Mormon and she said she knows that it was the word of God! On the
second lesson! She's been taught by the missionaries before, but the
only reason she wasn't baptized was because she thought the
missionaries were rushing her to the font! We reviewed the restoration
with her one more time and watched the
restoration video. She is the first person I've seen tear up about the
first vision. The best part is that her husband is an investigator
too! (I haven't met him yet because they taught them the first time
while my comp was on exchanges with my trainer and I was in Santee.)
but Hermana Crider said that he is the same way! He has a church he
goes to, but he said he's not completely hooked on that church.
We also talked to a recent convert after teaching a lesson with her.
We talked about some things that she went through (no one knows this,
but she was married for five years) and how she is dating (she has 29
years) and she wants to find someone who will help her grow
spiritually. For some reason a little voice told me to ask her if she
thought about a mission. I did NOT want to do that because she JUST
finished school.but the voice told me three times, so I did it and she
said she told Heavenly Father no, but that she knows she needs to go!
It was crazy spiritual. Turns out the spirit told my comp to ask her
too, but I did it first. (Don't mention the mission girl in the blog,
because I want to make sure no one in the branch reads my blog. I
doubt it, but I don't want trouble to happen) TANTOS MILAGROS! But
they do happen everyday, they are just harder to see sometimes. I had
a bad day this week (I even had to get a blessing.) but today I've
been trying to cover up the bad days with thoughts of the little
miracles.
I love Spanish by the way! I'm so glad that I get to speak this
language and that I get to work with these wonderful people. Even
though we are in the states, the culture is a lot different, but I
still love it! It makes me feel so good to be doing this work and to
learn this language. I am really just loving it!
I eat Mexican food every night except Thursday's when the whitewashed
family feeds us white people food, but yes we are required in our
mission to run mon, wed, fri. But these days, I've gained 6 lbs, so
I'm running every day. I lost 2 POUNDS! Yay! Seriously, everybody gets
fat here because if you reject the people's food they won't like you
and will gossip about you with other members. SOOO I have to be
careful and eat all they give me....which is a lot! But I run a mile
every day. And I'm actually getting up to a mile and a half. I hate
running.
Waiting for conference as a missionary is like waiting for Christmas!!
We just had stake conference, but we stayed in Ramona to watch it on
the screen while it was going on in Poway. The transmission failed so
we ended up hearing from all the bishops in Ramona! It was actually
pretty good though so it's ok. We still got to hear from the stake
pres. In the adult session on Saturday. Mitt Romneys son is also in
the stake presidency. He talked about family council and played a
weird video about a Romney family council and mitt Romney was in it.
Haha I made a lot of jokes........
Everything is great here in Ramona. We got some members to come out
with us last week and that was just so amazing! That never happens for
us! We had 6 lessons with a member! They were all so good and so
spiritual because a member was there! I know that great things happen
when you take a member teaching with you because the members are so
critical to this work! We can't do anything without them. People can
progress better when they have someone rooting Them on.
Love,
Hermana Lapp
