Week 18.....IM NOT GETTING TRANSFERED! & a Mexican fiesta

September 29, 2015

I eat so much frijoles and tortillas I'm going to come back looking
super chubby. They also make these things called tortas and they are
basically just a ridiculous sandwich. I love them so much and they are
going to make me gain weight, I can tell.....but what can you do,
nothing.

IM NOT GETTING TRANSFERED! Woop Woop one more transfer in Ramona. And
then I'm definitely leaving because my comp dies next transfer and if
I stayed, I'd be here half of my mission. But this transfer is going
to be a good one, I'm going to make it the best transfer the people of
this branch had ever seen. I went on exchanges with my trainer and she
gave me some really good advice on how to change the traditions of the
area. I'm just going to go go go all the time even when the day just
isn't go go going! This transfer is going to be so sweet.

I'm learning a lot here and sometimes I don't know if I can do it, but
then I get up in the morning and amazingly keep doing it. Plus
missionary work IS the miracle. Yesterday I wanted to go go go (this
is my new phrase now) so for literally an hour and a half we knocked
on formers doors. We got only one appointment out of it, but hey at
least we tried. One is something. We've dropped basically all of our
investigators except our one progressing (she's reading, the first
time ever in my mission basically) but I'm slowly beginning to
recognize that if I'm doing what I can, it doesn't matter what
happens. At least I can show the Lord that I am working hard. He will
provide for us and someday, someone will see the fruits of our labors,
whether it be us or missionaries a year from now. I think the Lord is
just teaching me to trust and rely on him in all things. Missionary
work is hard stuff, but if you are using the atonement, you will be
able to have strength for anything your going through!

We had a Mexican fiesta in the ward this week. It was super fun and
pictures will be sent. They went all out for this one. So much beans,
so much posole (a soup that they looooove), so many non Members! I was
so proud of the branch for inviting their friends and we even got a
few appointments out of it! It was a huge success. Now if only we
could get that many people to church :) soon, it'll happen soon. If
you think the English ward parties are boring just go to the Spanish
branch. They know how to throw a party.
It was super fun and it is such a different culture, I love it.
Sometimes when i am in the branch it feels like a different country.

How's everything going with your hip and your surgery?
Love,
Hermana Lapp
