Week 21........Faith & Overcoming Trials

October 20, 2015

The area is going really well still. It has been a slow couple of days, but I am hoping that everything will turn out okay. If it doesn't obviously it is just a trial of my faith and I need to just show him that I will work hard no matter what the area is doing. I am very happy for the members. They are the ones exercising their faith. Our companionship is good and we are still working hard. I am praying hard for this week that we will be able to be successful. We have a had a good past 3 weeks.

This week during my study of the Book of Mormon, I was thinking about a scripture that I really liked. In 1 nephi 7:9-12 when Nephi is talking about how his brothers should have faith because they have seen an angel, I thought about how they do believe, they just didn't have faith. They didn't act on their belief. They weren't exercising their faith. I have been trying to apply that in my daily life as a missionary. Instead of just praying for things to happen, I go and do them to show that I am faithful.

I have been thinking about faith a lot lately because of our mission president's topic this past month and his assignment to read the book of mormon about faith before christmas. It is a huge blessing. I love the book of mormon and through my reading this time, I have learned so many things about faith. I know that faith can help us through anything we are going through.

I am sorry I don't have a lot to say this week! I love the area I am in. I have been so proud of the members and happy for the area and now I don't really want to leave because I don't know who is going to come take care of this part of the vineyard, but I will have to just trust that it will all work out. I am very grateful to be serving here.

One thing I've been learning is that when things get hard, you shouldn't just be depressed or upset about it. It is most likely that the hard times are just a trial of our faith. If we are happy and we choose to keep going forward even when the people you're teaching or the ward or the area (or life in general) isn't going forward, you are the one that has to keep going. And if you keep going with a smile on your face, the Lord will bless you and there will be fruits from your labors whether you get to see it or not. Whatever challenges the Lord throws at you in this life, it you hold to your faith in the Lord, you will be able to overcome it. That is one of the biggest things I have been learning these past couple of transfers.

Thats all this child has for this week. I love and pray for you.
